BACK-TO-SCHOOL IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER… ARE YOUR 21 YEARS OLD AND OVER CHILDREN STILL FULL-TIME STUDENTS?

DON’T FORGET TO LET US KNOW IF WE NEED TO EXTEND THEIR INSURANCE COVERAGE

As the saying goes, all good things eventually come to an end! The end of summer vacation rhymes with the beginning of a new school year!  The time has come to validate if your 21 years old and over children are still eligible for coverage under your group insurance.

Did you know that your group insurance covers your children until they reach age of 21?  Beyond that, they may remain covered under your group plan only if they are still full-time students. Their coverage is then extended until they reach the age of 26.

It is your responsibility to inform us at the beginning of every school year if your child over 21 is still a full-time student in a recognized educational institution to maintain his / her insurance coverage.  Failing to notify us will result in the termination of the insurance coverage.

You can let us know by sending us an email with the following information:

  • Child name
  • Education institution
  • Start and end date of studies

However, if your child is 21 years old and has completed his / her studies, he / she is no longer covered through your group insurance. It will then be important to inform him / her to contact the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) to enroll the public plan. To do so, they may contact them by phone at 1-800-561-9749 or online at www.ramq.gouv.qc.ca.

Do not hesitate to contact us for any additional information.
